A fabrication consultant for your studio — working alongside architects, landscape architects & designers.

Consultancy

Work alongside us,
from concept on.

POBOX works as a consultant to architects, landscape architects and designers — bringing fabrication intelligence into the studio early, so design intent and buildability resolve together. Advice with the workshop behind it.

Fee proposals and scopes on request.

POBOX shop drawings, spec sheets and fabrication documentation

How we work with you

A fabricator in the room.

We’re a designer, engineer and manufacturer — so when we sit alongside your team, the advice comes with the workshop behind it: what folds and what welds, what a gauge will carry, what a finish does outdoors, what keeps a barrier compliant, and what a detail will cost to make. Engage us for a single detail or for the full documentation of a scheme. We work to your drawings and design language, never over them — the credit and the client stay yours.

Services

What we bring to the table

From first-principles advice through to fabrication-ready documentation.

01

General consultancy

Early advice on materiality, buildability, finishes, compliance and cost drivers — so the decisions on the drawings hold up in fabrication and on site.

02

Design

Design development alongside your concept — resolving proportion, detail and junctions into something considered and genuinely makeable.

03

3D modelling

Accurate 3D models of planters, screens, balustrades and metalwork to test form, fit and setout before anything is cut.

04

Parametric modelling

Parametric models for repeating or variable elements — modular runs, tapering forms, patterned screens — so a family of parts stays consistent and flexes cleanly to the site.

05

Shop drawings

Fabrication-ready shop drawings — dimensions, gauges, fixings, finishes and setout, coordinated with your documentation and the trades.

06

Sections & block details

Section and block details that show exactly how an element is built and fixed — for design intent, engineering sign-off and site.

07

Site assessments

On-site assessment and digital templating with the Leica ICS 50 to capture as-built conditions precisely — so what’s drawn fits the first time.

Engaging us

Fee proposals & scopes on request

Bring us in at any stage — concept, detailed design or documentation. We scope to suit the project and set out a clear fee before we start.

By the detail
A one-off model, drawing set or piece of advice when a single element needs resolving.
By the stage
Consultancy through a design or documentation phase, coordinated with your program.
By fixed scope
A defined package of deliverables against an agreed fee — proposed up front.

Why a maker consults

Design intent meets buildability — early.

On every engagement you have in-house engineering, Regulation 126 barrier certification, Leica ICS 50 templating and a workshop that will actually make the work — laser cutting, folding, welding and finishing under one roof. Detail resolved with the maker in the room is detail that survives contract, tender and site — before it becomes a variation.
